The city of Thornton offers a variety of classes and programs designed to expand learning and help keep children active and moving.
We offer two family fitness programs.
JumpBunch provides great exercise, but in a structured format that introduces a wide variety of sports, and builds coordination, balance and confidence. Each class includes warm-ups, floor exercises, the sport activity of the week, stretching, then cool down.
Computer Explorers, by TechStars, offers camps that takes learning to a whole new level. Through specialized, hands-on projects such as video-game animation, programming, robot building, engineering and creating digital movies, TechStars reinforce the core academic skills children are learning in schools. This Summer discover, create and learn, as you access to a proprietary Minecraft mod created only for TechStars!
Give your kids, ages 5-13 a fun-filled summer. They will make new friends, have fun playing games, participating in sports, going on field trips, doing arts and crafts. All Children must have at least attended kindergarten. All 5 and 6 year olds will be asked to provide a copy of their school report card.
The city of Thornton offers a one week youth triathlon clinic that will teach youth the fundamentals of the sport of Triathlon. On the final day the triathletes will participate in the Thornton Triple T Triathlon.
Henry Sherman has been playing and teaching music for over 35 years and has written two music teaching books. He uses inspiring teaching method based on students' interests and abilities.
Hunter Safety internet conclusion course. Students complete a portion of the course online at their convenience. This MUST be completed BEFORE the classroom portion. Spend 5 hours in the classroom followed by live firing exercise. We will cover Colorado laws and regulations, have hands-on exercises and end with a written test. All classes will be held at the Carpenter Recreation Center, Fees: $10R/NR All classes are held on Sunday.

Kids 'n Canvas (Ages 7-14)
It’s the “Art of Socializing,” we bring the fun to you! You will be guided through easy step-by-step instructions for you to paint on canvas, a simple, yet fun-themed piece of original artwork that you’ll be proud to show all of your friends! All supplies are included. A sack dinner is encouraged. NO art smarts are needed. All classes are held 6-8 p.m. at the Carpenter Recreation Center. Fees: $22R/$26NR

Little Medical School
Kids love to dress up and play doctor. This program encourages children to do this as they explore the exciting world of medicine. Using interactive demonstrations, role-playing, crafts, and games, kids learn how the body and organs work and how to use instruments that real doctors use. Children are awarded a graduation diploma at the end of the program. Little Medical School and Little Veterinarian School are taught by a contractual instructor who plans the program based upon the number of students registered 48 hours prior to the start of the program. Therefore, we cannot grant refund, credit, or transfer requests after 48 hours prior tot he start of the class. Thank you for your understanding.
Wilderness Medicine (Ages 6 - 10)
This class focuses on some of the most common outdoor emergencies and how to handle them with confidence. Come explore with us as we learn about water safety, tourniquest, snake bites, the dangers of hypothermia and more!

Future Pediatricians/Expectant Siblings (Ages 4 - 8)
This class takes a new twist on teh traditional expectant siblings offerings. Students will assume the role of pediatrician and learn how to hold the baby, do an exam just like a real doctor, change a diaper and keep the baby safe. Each Future Pediatrician will receive a disposable white coat, a luxury plush baby, an exclusive mini Baby Box for safe sleeping, activity sheets and a birth certificate.

Little Veterinarian School, Darling Doggies Part 2 (Ages 6 - 10)
Does your child love animals? During Darling Doggies Part 2, we will continue to learn about the important careers of veterinarians and how to properly care for an animal. Interactive demonstrations, role playing, crafts and games will be used to learn about the different roles of people working in a veterinarian's office, Radiology, Canine Skin, Dog Digestion and Body Laanguare. Each future veterinarian will adopt a stuffed fury friend to use throughtout the program and take home.

Immersion-based Language Classes
Language World offers immersion-based language classes. Their native speaking and bilingual teachers will lead the kids through adventure-filled lessons that combines storytelling, music, movement, art and dramatic play, to teach kids to understand and ultimately speak new languages.
