Neighborhoods help to define the unique character of a community. When neighborhoods are healthy and vibrant, residents prosper, the local economy grows, and there is a sense of shared pride. The Neighborhood Services Division was created to preserve healthy neighborhoods, and revitalize neighborhoods through housing and community development programs.
Housing Needs Assessment and Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice
Every five years the City conducts a Housing Needs Assessment (HNA) and Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (AI) to evaluate whether there is a balance of housing options throughout the community, identify any housing discrimination impediments, determine if there is unmet demand or need within the housing market and discover if there are trends that may help guide the City in future development. The City is holding a 30-day public comment period followed by a public hearing on the results of the assessment of housing in the community. Public Notification and Comment Period
The public comment period runs from Thursday, February 7th to Thursday, March 7th at 5 p.m. Residents are welcome to provide written comments on the HNA and AI during this public comment period to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail a letter to the City Development Department, Attn: Neighborhood Services. People can call 303-538-7295 with questions about the report.
Notice of Public Hearing
Residents are invited to attend the public hearing on the draft 2019 HNA and AI on April 9, at 7:00 p.m. City Hall, 9500 Civic Center Drive, Thornton, Colorado. City Hall is accessible to people with disabilities. If you are planning to attend the public meeting and require special assistance, please notify the City's Human Resources Division at 303-538-7245 at least one day in advance of the meeting.
