THORNTON, CO… The five candidates under consideration to be the next Thornton City Manager were in town for interviews with members of the Thornton City Council last weekend. The candidates met with the city’s senior leadership team, toured the community, and attended a public open house with residents.
The five candidates are:
• Todd Leopold from Adams County, Colorado,
• Philip Rodriguez from the City of Athens, Texas,
• Thomas Thomas from the City of Rock Island, Illinois,
• Bret Waters from the City of Colorado Springs,
• Kevin Woods from the Town of Stallings, North Carolina.
All five visited Thornton at the same time to participate in the interview process.
“Thornton’s City Council thought it was a good opportunity to meet the candidates and have them meet the residents they would serve and the people they would work with and lead in our city,” said Thornton Mayor Heidi K. Williams. “Bringing them together for a couple of days of interviews, plus the public meeting, allowed City Council to really get an idea of who they are, far beyond each candidates resume.” The public met the candidates at an open event at Stonebrook Manor on Friday, July 14.
Thornton City Council conducted a nation-wide search for the person to fill the city manager position. More than 70 people applied for the position through an executive search firm.
Thornton City Manager and Utility Director Jack Ethredge retired from the city in March.
