In 2010, the Thornton Senior Citizen Advisory Board presented City Council
with this Senior Services Master Plan. The Board had a solid basis for its
work in a comprehensive Needs Assessment of Older
Adults Assessment carried out by a national research firm. The
needs assessment consisted of a random phone survey, six focus groups, and
interviews with key stakeholders in the Thornton Senior community.
Building from this research, the Board was charged with advising City Council
on the needs, concerns and challenges facing older adults in the community. Over
a 12-month period, the Board identified a master list of 13 issues, and went on
to establish benchmarks for each issue. New Plan updates for the Senior Services Master Plan
are coming in May 2015. Check back for more information.
