to the Thornton Senior Center A fun, vibrant, friendly place to be. If you are
age 55 or older, you are invited to spend time at the center. We offer
educational and recreational programs, fitness classes, special events, trips,
outdoor programs, health screenings and a fabulous daily meal program! Visiting
the Center is a wonderful way to meet new friends, learn a new hobby, get fit,
or take a trip to somewhere new. We also offer a host of Adult classes age 18+
in the evenings and on weekends.
Lunch is served at noon, Monday through Friday at the Senior Center. Daily lunch fees for the meal program are $3.75 for residents and $4.25 for non-residents. You may purchase a 10-punch lunch pass for $33.75/resident or $38.25/non-resident. The 10th punch is free! Special event meals may be slightly higher in fee and reservations limited to seniors.
Non-senior residents who are accompanied by a senior participant will be charged $5, and non-senior non-residents will be charged $6 per meal. Grandchildren under the age of 12 will pay the same rate as seniors.
Reservations must be made by 4 p.m. the business day before you join us for lunch. Please call us to make a reservation. If you have made a reservation and you are unable to attend, please call the front desk to cancel you reservation.
Special Event Meals: Join us for one of the many special event meals throughout the year. Prices may vary, call 303-255-7850 for more information.
Sunset Suppers: Once a quarter we offer special evening meals with entertainment we call Sunset Suppers. The menu may vary from roast pork, baked chicken or roast beef, with all the fixings, and is specially prepared by our own kitchen staff. After dinner, we provide quality entertainment for your enjoyment.
Quarterly Birthday Parties: Birthdays are a great reason to have a party! We celebrate each quarter by serving birthday cake, donated by The Villas at Sunny Acres, and by enjoying entertainment as well. Everyone is welcome to join us in the celebration, regardless if they have a birthday during that quarter.

Community Acupuncture Clinic: Treatments are available the second and fourth Friday of the month from 8:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Treatments are done in a community style setting, with several people receiving treatment simultaneously.
De-Stress (ear only) is $10 for seniors, $15 for non-seniors.
Extra Points (ear & body) are bases on a sliding scale $15-30 for seniors, $22.50-40 for non-seniors (plus $10 one time initial assessment fee.)
Adults age 18-54 pay 1 ½ times the senior rate for services. We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation or a surcharge will apply.
Health Screenings: Preventative health-care services are available the first Friday of each month, 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Sponsored by the Visiting Nurse Association, services include:
Blood Pressure (BP) Check $3
Toenail Trim with BP Check $45 new clients and $35 existing client
Fingernail Trim $15
Blood Sugar - Bring a glucometer for instruction (free).
B - 12 Shot $15 (must bring physician order and serum)
Manicures & Pedicures: Appointments available the second and fourth Monday of each month. Pedicures cost $14.00, fingernail trimming and filing is available for $7.00. Cancellations must be made 24 hours in advance or a $8 surcharge will apply. This service is for seniors only. Bring a towel or you may rent one for $1. Polish application is available for an additional $1.
Massage Therapy: Prices are $18.50 for 30 minutes, $37 for one hour. We require a 24-hour notice of cancellation.

Podiatry Services: The Senior Center offers professional podiatry care with Dr. Kimberly Wilms on the third Friday of each month from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Services provided will be diabetic foot care; routine palliative care of calluses and toenails; evaluation of various foot deformities including bunions, hammertoes and heel pain. The cost for services is $25 cash or check.
Police Liaison: Thornton Police Department Senior Liaison Officer Aaron Ahlfinger will be at the Senior Center each Wednesday and will meet with seniors during and after lunch to discuss any problems or concerns you may have Officer Ahlfinger can be reached at 720-977-5503.
Take Off Pounds Sensibly (TOPS): Thornton TOPS group meets weekly at the Thornton Senior Center. Anyone interested in losing weight, eating healthy and living a more active lifestyle can join the group. The group meets every Tuesday from 9 -10:30 a.m. at the Thornton Senior Center, 9471 Dorothy Blvd.
Transportation Services for Handicapped and Seniors: The Thornton Senior Center contracts with the Adams County Special Transit program to provide transportation services to senior citizens. The Senior Center schedules transportation for senior citizens wishing to participate in the lunch program, Monday through Friday. Transportation reservations may be made by calling the Senior Center at 303-255-7850. Reservations must be made three business days in advance by 10 a.m. Click on any of the

Vial of Life: Emergency medical information provides helpful information to police, sheriff, fire and ambulance crews when an emergency is called in on 911. Local senior citizens can participate in the Vial of Life program by filling out an enrollment form and placing it in a vial which is kept in your home refrigerator.
