Discover Thornton Community Walks

January 20
9 a.m.

Please help us kick-off the 9th year for the Community Walk Program on January 20th.  We will meet near the pavilion at the Eagleview Elementary School parking lot.  The easiest way to get there is take Colorado Blvd. to Summit Grove Parkway (the stoplight just south of  136th St.)  Go east on Summit Grove Parkway as it winds through the neighborhood to Eagleview Elementary School.   We will depart promptly at 9 a.m. so please be on-time.   We will be doing one loop that will include the Heritage Trail, one loop around Eastlake and then head north to 136th and then back along Summit Grove Parkway.   The longest route will be about 6 miles, and of course you need only go as far as you feel like on that day.   Please remember to dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.  If you are interested in participating in the program but can't come on January 20th , please make sure we have your e-mail address and we will keep you apprised of the dates, locations and distances for upcoming walks.  Please send those inquiries to   The February event will be held on Saturday, August event will be held on Saturday, February 17th

This is a monthly fitness program designed to help you develop or maintain a consistent fitness program.  City of Thornton Recreation Staff will lead the walk each month.  These treks will be of varying distances and will explore the many different trails around the community.  Come alone or bring your spouse, your neighbors, your children and/or your dog.  This is an opportunity to pursue your fitness goals, meet some new people and enjoy the trails of Thornton and the surrounding area.  These walks are free and open to anyone who can physically complete the distance.  These are "no frills" events, so bring what you will need (water bottle, pet pick-up bags, etc.) for the duration of each month's walk.
