Master Plan and Public Outreach

In the summer of 2007, City Council approved the preliminary master plan and elements for the first phase of construction. The master planning process included three public meetings, sports group interviews, and numerous Parks and Open Space Advisory Commission and City Council work sessions. All these efforts were made to solicit input, to explore alternatives, and to arrive at a preliminary master plan that best meets the objectives of city residents, the neighbors and the user groups.

The input was tremendous and resulted in a great design. The Phase 1 Site Plan highlighting the areas scheduled for construction can be viewed via the link below.

The construction contractor is expected to begin work in Feb. 2008, weather permitting. The new park is scheduled to be completed and open to the public in the summer/fall of 2009 after the sod is fully rooted and established.
