​Program Event Dates

Click & Haul - bulky or large item collections

Event Dates: Click & Haul collections are scheduled during the work week, depending on your address. Thornton trash and recycle customers can use this service to:  Get rid of clutter in the garage or basement, plan a do-it-yourself room remodel, clean up the yard or storage shed, get rid of recently replaced furniture or appliances, or for a rental property cleanup! 

Location: Items must be placed in an orderly fashion (stacked/bundled) at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of the scheduled collection.

Guidelines:  The cost is just $65 per collection for 6 cubic yards of stuff, that would fill two normal sized pickup truck loads. More than two full pickup loads = $109 or more. Restrictions and limitations apply.  The cost of service is placed on the next utility bill for payment. Furniture, appliances, mattresses/box springs, hot water heaters, fence panels, branches, remodeling debris, and evaporative coolers are eligible for pickup. There may be an addtional diversion fee for mattresses and/or boxsprings.

Restrictions:  NO hazardous materials (i.e., flammable liquids, oil, paint, fertilizer, chemical cleaners, etc.).  NO tires.  NO concrete or masonry demolition (driveway concrete, wall blocks or gravel).  NO televisions, computer monitors, DVD players, and other certain electronics.

Event date:  Saturday, April 6, 2019

Event time:  9 a.m - 2 p.m.

Location: Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center  12450 Washington Street, Thornton, CO  Please use the north entrance with access from 126th Avenue, east of Washington Street

Guidelines: On specified dates, Adams County residents may bring their DVD players, computer monitors, televisions, and other electronics in for recycling.  Fees apply:  $15 per vehicle for all electronics including up to one TV or computer monitor.  $25 fee for each vehicle carrying up to three TVs or monitors.  Please CLICK HERE to pre-register for the event.  

Not accepted at the event:  TV's and monitors with exposed tubes, anything that contains mercury, freon or other chemicals, smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, thermostats, radioactive equipment, neon signs, alkaline batteries, light bulbs, trash, etc.

 

Event date:  March 30, September 21

Event time:  7 a.m - 2 p.m.

Location: Republic Services Tower Landfill at 88th Avenue & Tower Road in Commerce City

Guidelines: On specified Saturdays, Thornton residents may take non-hazardous debris to a designated landfill and the gate fee is waived.  One load per household.  Cars, pickups, and small single-axel trailers only.  All loads must be covered.  Commercial loads are subject to applicable fees.  Proof of residency is required and limitations apply.  Freon charged units (refrigerators, A/C units, and freezers) and electronics such as televisions and computer monitors will not be accepted.  Mattresses are subject to an additional fee.  

Tree Branch/Limb & Compost Drop-offs

Event date:  April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14

 

Event time:  10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Location:  Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center, 12450 Washington Street, Thornton, CO  80241.  Please use the north entrance to the facility with access on 126th Avenue, east of Washington Street.

Guidelines: On specified Saturdays, Thornton residents may bring their tree branches, limbs, and compost materials to the IMC.  Restrictions and limitations apply.  Proof of residency is required.

Paint Recycle Drop-off

Event date:  April 27, 2019

Event time:  9 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Location:  Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center, 12450 Washington Street, Thornton, CO  80241.  Please use the north entrance to the facility with access on 126th Avenue, east of Washington Street.

Guidelines: On a specified date Adams County residents may bring their leftover paint.  This event is for paints and stains only.  CLICK HERE to register for the event.  Visit www.paintcare.org for more paint recycling options and drop-off locations. 

Event date:  October 21 through November 15

Guidelines: City trash/recycle customers may place their bagged leaves at the curb for collection on their regular trash collection day.  Please use the black trash containers first.  Bags filled with trash or debris will not be collected.  Use the black trash containers for all household trash.  This is a four week program that is subject to restrictions.  

Event date:  December 26 through December 31

Guidelines: During the week following Christmas, City trash/recycle customers may place their flattened holiday boxes and bagged wrapping paper at the curb for collection on their regular trash collection day.  Please use black trash containers first or consider placing eligible items with other recyclables in the green recycle containers for collection on regular recycle collection day.  Boxes and bags filled with trash or debris placed outside the black containers will not be collected.  Use the black trash containers for all household trash.
