​Program Event Dates

Click & Haul - bulky or large item collections

Event Dates: Click & Haul collections are scheduled during the work week, depending on your address. Thornton trash and recycle customers can use this service to:  Get rid of clutter in the garage or basement, plan a do-it-yourself room remodel, clean up the yard or storage shed, get rid of recently replaced furniture or appliances, or for a rental property cleanup! 

Location: Items must be placed in an orderly fashion (stacked/bundled) at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of the scheduled collection.

Guidelines:  The cost is just $65 per collection for 6 cubic yards of stuff, that would fill two normal sized pickup truck loads. More than two full pickup loads = $109 or more. Restrictions and limitations apply.  The cost of service is placed on the next utility bill for payment. Furniture, appliances, mattresses/box springs, hot water heaters, fence panels, branches, remodeling debris, and evaporative coolers are eligible for pickup. There may be an addtional diversion fee for mattresses and/or boxsprings.

Restrictions:  NO hazardous materials (i.e., flammable liquids, oil, paint, fertilizer, chemical cleaners, etc.).  NO tires.  NO concrete or masonry demolition (driveway concrete, wall blocks or gravel).  NO televisions, computer monitors, DVD players, and other certain electronics.

Adams County Household Chemical Roundup

Please check back shortly as we finalize the 2018 event dates for the Adams County Household Chemical Roundup. 

Thornton, in cooperation with Adams County and other local jurisdictions, will conduct a drop-off program for safe disposal of unwanted household hazardous chemicals. Restrictions and limitations apply. Proof of residency is required. Dates and locations to be determined.

 

Electronic Recycle Drop-off

Event Date:  Saturday, April 7, 2018

Event Time:  9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Location:  Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center (IMC) 12450 Washington Street, Thornton, CO  80241.  Please use the north entrance to the IMC, with access from 126th Avenue, east of Washington Street.

Details:  On specified dates, Adams County residents may bring their televisions, computer monitors, DVD players, and other electronics in for recycling. There will be a $10 fee per vehicle for all electronics and up to one TV or computer monitor.  A $20 fee will be assessed for each vehicle carrying up to three TVs and/or computer monitors. Intro to Composting Class

Event Date:  Thursday, April 12, 2018

Event Time:  6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Location:  Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center (IMC) 12450 Washington Street, Thornton, CO  80241. 

Details: Please join us for a FREE class to learn some different composting methods, how it conditions the soil for healthy plants, and how you can save money and water!  We will have a guest speaker give tips on tree care and a drawing for great giveaways!  Space is limited!  Please click here to register.

 

Landfill Days at Republic Services Tower Landfill in Commerce City

Event Dates:  Saturday, April 21, June 2, July 21, September 15

Event Time:  7 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Guidelines: On Saturday, April 21, June 2, July 21, September 15 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. only, Thornton residents may take non-hazardous debris to the Tower Road Landfill and the gate fee is waived. No trailer loads. All loads must be covered. Trailer and commercial loads are subject to applicable fees. Proof of residency is required and limitations apply. Freon charged units (refrigerators, A/C units, and freezers) and electronics such as televisions and computer monitors will not be accepted. Mattresses and box springs are subject to an additional fee. Tower Road Landfill is located at 88th Avenue and Tower Road in Commerce City. 

 

Paint Recycle Drop-off

Event Date:  Saturday, April 28, 2018

Event Time:  9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Location:  Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center (IMC) 12450 Washington Street,  Thornton, CO.  Please use the north entrance with access from 126th Avenue east of Washington Street.

Guidelines: On Saturday, April 28th from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. only, Thornton residents may drop-off their leftover paint. This event is for paints and stains only. Tree Branch/Limb Drop-off

Event Dates:  Saturday, April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8

Event Time:  10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Location:  Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center (IMC) 12450 Washington Street,  Thornton, CO.  Please use the north entrance with access from 126th Avenue east of Washington Street.

Guidelines: On Saturday, April 14, May 12, June 9, July 14, August 11, September 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. only, Thornton residents may bring their tree branches and limbs to the Infrastructure Maintenance Center located at 12450 Washington Street. Restrictions and limitations apply. Proof of residency is required.

 

2018 Fall Leaf Collection

Event Dates:  October 15 through November 9

Guidelines: City trash/recycle customers may place their bagged leaves at the curb for collection on their regular trash collection day from October 15 through November 9 only. Please use the black trash containers first. Bags filled with trash or debris will not be collected. Use the black trash containers for all household trash. This is a four week program that is subject to restrictions.

 

2018 Special Christmas Wrap Collection

Event Dates:  December 26 through December 31

Guidelines: December 26 through December 31 only, city trash/recycle customers may place their flattened holiday boxes and bagged wrapping paper at the curb for collection on their regular trash collection day. Please use black trash containers first or consider placing eligible items with other recyclables in the green recycle containers for collection on regular recycle collection day. Boxes and bags filled with trash or debris placed outside the black containers will not be collected. Use the black trash containers for all household trash.
