Notice of Candidates Under Consideration for Appointment as Associate Judges

The Thornton City Council appoints Associate Judges for its Municipal Court to serve on an as-needed basis.  Thornton's judicial nominating commission screened applicants and recommends 15 candidates for Council to select 12 names.  Before Council makes a final selection, City Code Section 2-88(e)(4) requires a public comment period.  Please submit supporting or opposing written comments to the City Clerk's office within 15 days of this notice, but no later than May 2, 2019 by 5:00 p.m. All comments submitted by the public will be provided to the City Council.  The candidates are (in alphabetical order):

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING AND REQUEST FOR PUBLIC COMMENTS

The City Council of the City of Thornton (City) will hold a 30-day public comment period and public hearing for the 2019 Annual Action Plan (AAP), prior to submission to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  Residents are encouraged to review the proposed AAP along with the proposed projects and provide their input. The City will receive $740,720 of 2019 Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from HUD. Of this amount, $592,576 will be used to fund projects related to housing, property and community facility improvements and infrastructure. All projects funded must meet HUD requirements and federal regulations. More than 70% of the proposed projects will benefit persons of low and moderate income.

Public Comment Period

The public comment period runs from Thursday, May 2, 2019 to Monday, June 3, 2019. Residents can send comments on the AAP and projects proposed to receive CDBG funding by emailing cdbg@cityofthornton.net or mailing a letter to the City of Thornton, Attn: CDBG, 9500 Civic Center Drive, Thornton, CO 80229. Also, residents can call 303-538-7600 to speak with a staff member about the AAP or projects.

Notice of Public Hearing

The City of Thornton will hold a public hearing on the AAP on June 11, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall, 9500 Civic Center Drive, Thornton, Colorado. Anyone interested in the AAP is welcome to attend this meeting and can speak during the public hearing by signing up on the register before the meeting.

Building Code Advisory Board

 NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

Notice is hereby given of a hearing before the Building Code Advisory Board of the City of Thornton, Colorado, on the 8th  day of May 2019, at 6:00 p.m. or as soon thereafter as possible, in the Thornton Civic Center Council Conference Room, 9500 Civic Center Drive, Thornton, Colorado, for the purpose of recommending the amending, repealing and reenacting various sections and subsections of Chapter 10 of the Thornton City Code pertaining to building and construction regulations; adopting the 2017 National Electrical Code and the 2018 editions of the International Building Code, Fire Code, Existing Building Code, Mechanical Code, Fuel Gas Code, Plumbing Code, Residential Code and Energy Conservation Code.

At least one copy of the Code above, set out and referred to for this hearing, (being considered for recommendation of adoption to the City Council) shall be filed in the office of the Building Inspection Division at least 10 days preceding the above-stated public hearing and may be inspected during regular business hours.

Following this hearing, the Building Code Advisory Board will consider making a recommendation to the City Council for adoption of the above-listed codes and amendments.
