The Thornton Fire Explorer Post is a unique opportunity for young adults to "explore" their interest in firefighting and to learn more about the opportunities and challenges available to those who choose a career in firefighting. This opportunity is being offered to interested young men and women who reside or attend school in Thornton, ages 16 to 20, and will include a variety of hands-on and practical learning experiences.
The motto for the Explorer Post is: Our best today for a better tomorrow.
Goals
- Provide practical experience in the fire/rescue service.
- Provide a program of activities centered on career opportunities life skills, service learning, character education, and leadership experience, thereby encouraging the development of the whole person.
- Provide positive leadership from adult and youth leaders while giving opportunities to take on leadership roles.
- Provide opportunities to learn and grow in a supportive, caring, and fun environment.
- Participate in TFD and community service activities, including routine and emergency service delivery, public education, training and experience life as a firefighter.
