School Kids to find out at Water Festival

Festival for area 4th & 5th graders is May 30

THORNTON, COWe drink it, wash with it, play in it, and on Friday, May 30, 4th and 5th graders will learn the about other aspects of our water. Kids from the cities of Thornton, Northglenn, and Westminster will take part in the annual Water Festival. It offers a day of fun and educational workshops featuring active learning and hands-on activities.
The Festival’s workshops are designed to teach students about water conservation, water chemistry, the water cycle, local water supplies, water treatment, Colorado water law, aquatic wildlife, ecology and more.

Over 800 students and teachers are expected to attend the event. Over thirty presenters representing local, state, federal, non-profit, and private businesses have donated their time and energy for this event.  Among the 2008 Water Festival presenters are professionals from the Denver Zoo, Butterfly Pavilion, Colorado Division of Wildlife, University of Colorado Science Discovery Program, Colorado Water Conservation Board, Metropolitan Wastewater Reclamation District, Great Western Institute, Mad Science, Ewing Irrigation, staff from the sponsoring cities, and many more.

The 2008 Water Festival is funded by the cities of Northglenn, Thornton and Westminster and a grant from the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District (SCFD) through the Adams County Cultural Council and the Thornton Arts, Sciences, and Humanities Council.

The Water Festival will take place at Front Range Community College, 3645 W. 112th Ave. in Westminster from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
