Vietnam Traveling Memorial moves to
Thornton for the July 4th Weekend
THORNTON, CO…The Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation, in partnership with the City of Thornton, will bring the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall to Thornton today.
At 10 a.m. a motorcycle escort will travel with the Wall to the multipurpose fields at the Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center, 11151 Colorado Boulevard. The motorcade escort departs from Graystone Castle at 120th & I-25, will go east on 120th Ave to Colorado Blvd, then south to the display site. From 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. the wall will be set up with public viewing beginning at 6 p.m. tonight.
The Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall is a 3/5 scale version of the original in Washington D.C. The original is the most-visited memorial in the country. The Traveling Wall will be in Thornton from July 3 to July 7, and will be available for public viewing 24 hours a day on those dates.
