TASHCO Young Artists Festival underway

12th annual scholarship competition for classical arts students

THORNTON, CO…The 12th annual TASHCO Young Artists Festival is underway.
The ten-day celebration runs through April 12 and serves as an artistic outlet for Adams County students in the arts.  

TASHCO invites students throughout Adams County to join in the classical competition that features a juried art exhibit and performing arts contests in ballet, piano, vocal and strings. The festival is a unique venue to highlight:

• the dedication and endurance shown by the ballet students as they perform inspiring variations from Sleeping Beauty, Giselle or Coppelia.
• the piano and string students bring classical selections from Mozart, Bach or Rachmaninoff alive after a year of preparation.
• the vocal competitions convey enthusiasm for musical theater, opera and folk songs throughout the ages.

The public is invited to attend the final concert and award ceremony on April 12 at 7 p.m. at Mountain Range High School.

An annual art exhibit organized by the Paletteers Art Club will highlight the original drawings, paintings and sculptures from middle-and high-school students. You can see this exhibit at the Carpenter Recreation Center, 11151 Colorado Boulevard in Thornton on April 9 from 3-6 p.m. The visual arts award presentation will follow at 6 p.m.

Festival sponsors are SCFD, TASHCO, the cities of Thornton and Northglenn, Ballet Nouveau Colorado and the Paleteers Art Club.
