Thornton Long Range Planning

Thornton is a fast growing city — one that will continue to expand northward in the decades to come. With this growth comes the responsibility for careful planning. Thornton's Policy Planning Division, in concert with the City Council and citizens of Thornton, oversees this planning.

The Thornton Comprehensive Plan

The Thornton Comprehensive Plan is an overall vision of how development should take place in the City, painting of picture of how the City will grow and where future development or redevelopment will occur.

Master and Subarea Plans

As part of long-range planning, the City of Thornton prepared a number of special studies and planning documents to supplement the Comprehensive Plan. These are the Master Plans and Subarea Plans.

Population and Demographics

Accurate and effective planning cannot take place without statistics to inform those decisions. The City of Thornton collects and studies population and demographic data relating to the city.
