Note: Vendor's fee reduction!

Effective January 1, 2010, the City of Thornton sales tax vendor's fee cap per filing period will be reduced from $150 to $25.

The vendor's fee is the percentage of sales tax collected that a vendor is allowed to keep if they file their sales tax returns on time. The current vendor's fee is 3% of sales tax collected, up to a maximum of $150 per filing period. The new vendor's fee will be 3%, with a cap of $25 per filing period. The Sales Tax Division will be distributing information and forms at the end of 2009 to vendors who do not create their own returns or file online. Please contact the Sales Tax Division if you have any questions regarding this change.

About the Sales Tax Division

The City’s Sales Tax Division is responsible for collection of the following taxes and fees: sales, use, lodging and telephone taxes, and E911 surcharges. We assist businesses and the public in understanding how Thornton’s taxes apply to their operations or purchases. The Sales Tax Division is also responsible for auditing businesses to ensure that they are in compliance with the City Code.

Property taxes are administered by the County. Please contact Adams County directly for questions regarding your property taxes.
