THORNTON, CO… The City of Thornton has been recognized as one of the top digital city governments in the U.S. The Digital Cities Survey spotlights the municipalities that best show how information and communication technology are used to enhance public service.
“We are honored and excited to be recognized by the Center for Digital Government,” said Thornton Information Technology Director Jim Creese. “This award represents our continual efforts to create operating efficiencies by matching appropriate technology to business processes, allowing us to effectively provide the excellent services our residents expect in Thornton.”
Thornton is ranked 6th among U.S. cities with a population between 75,000 and 124,999. The top 10 cities are selected in four different population categories and judged on the criteria of enterprise applicability or impact across multiple program areas, measurable progress from the prior year, hard dollar savings or soft dollar benefits as a result of technology use, innovation and a demonstration of effective collaboration.
The Center for Digital Government conducts the annual survey on digital cities, and is a national research and advisory institute on information technology policies and best practices in state and local government.
