Thornton provides curbside trash and recycling collection to over 25,950 homes, as well as a number of other collection services for our citizens. The collection service operates as an enterprise fund — meaning that all costs are covered by user fees.

Did You know?

Plastic bags can be recycled, just not as part of the mix of recyclables placed in your green container. Instead, drop them off at specially marked plastic recycle bins at your grocery store.

Shredded paper causes difficulties during the sorting process at the recycle facilities. Don't place it in your green container, instead, tear semi-confidential documents by hand, then throw them into your recycle container.

Tree Branch/Limb Drop Off

For Thornton residents only, a community drop off center for tree branch and limb recycling. (10 a.m. - 2 p.m.)

Location:
Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center,
12450 Washington St., use the IMC's north entrance with access on 126th Avenue east of Washington St.
