Thornton provides curbside trash and recycling collection to over 26,625 homes, as well as a number of other collection services for our citizens. The collection service operates as an enterprise fund — meaning that all costs are covered by user fees.

 

 

Memorial Day Holiday Delay

Trash and recycling collection service will be on a one day holiday delay in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday, beginning Monday, May 27, 2013.  If your normal trash/recycle pickup day is Monday it will be picked up on Tuesday.  If your normal trash/recycle day is Tuesday it will be picked up on Wednesday and so forth through the week.  City trash/recycle service will return to normal pickup schedule on Monday, June 3, 2013.

2013 Bulk Item Pick-up Schedule
The City of Thornton offers one free curbside pickup of large and/or bulky items each year for its trash/recycle customers.
Curbside Special Collection
Get rid of clutter in the garage or basement, or plan a do-it-yourself room remodel.
Household Chemical and Electronic Waste Roundups
Adams County residents can take advantage of this twice a year event to dispose of chemicals, tires, electronics, etc.
Landfill Days
Landfill days allow you to bring items to the landfill that you may not be able to dispose of through your regular trash service.
