Tree Branch Drop-Offs
2013 Event Dates: March 9, April 13, May 11, June 8, July 13, August 10, September 14, and October 12
10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Tree branches and limbs up to eight inches in diameter can be dropped off at Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center, 12450 Washington Street. Use the IMC's north entrance with access on 126th Avenue east of Washington Street. Thornton residents only. Proof of residency is required.
Guidelines: Car, pickup or single axle trailers (4'W x 4'H x 8"L) only. Loads must be covered. You will be responsible for unloading your branches, etc. The City of Thornton reserves the right to reject any items or service. Self loading mulch may be made available and while supplies last. Program drop-off restricted to dates and times listed.
Restrictions: No root balls or tree stumps. No branches longer than six feet in length. No insect infested branches. No grass clippings, leaves, sod, dirt or other green waste. No construction lumber or treated lumber. No trash or plastic bags. No commercial or landscaping companies.

Landfill Days
2013 Event Dates: March 23 and July 20
7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Front Range Landfill, 1830 Weld County Road 5, Erie, CO
Landfill days allow you to bring items to the landfill that you may not be able to dispose of through your regular trash service.
Guidelines: Thornton residents only. Proof of residency is required (i.e. driver's license or water bill). Non-hazardous debris only. Pickup or car loads only. All loads must be covered. Trailer loads and commercial loads are subject to applicable fees. Freon charged appliances (refrigerators, A/C units) are not accepted.

Household Chemical and Electronic Waste Roundups
2013 Event Dates: May 4 and September 21
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
May 4 Location: Hyland Hills Water World, 1800 W. 89th Ave., Federal Heights, CO
September 21 Location: Thornton's Infrastructure Maintenance Center, 12450 Washington Street, Thornton, CO
Open to residents of, and sponsored by: Adams County (Unincorporated) and the Cities of Brighton, Commerce City, Federal Heights, and Thornton. You will be asked to show a utility bill, phone bill, or driver's license with your name and address.
A contribution of $25 is requested to help offset the high cost of hazardous waste disposal.
We will accept: house, garden, and pool chemicals, paint and paint products, all electronics, automotive fluids, fuels, propane tanks (1 - 20 lbs.), vehicle and household batteries, items containing mercury, fluorescent light bulbs, CFLs, aerosol cans, ammunition, scrap metal, passenger vehicle and truck tires (remove from rim) for $2.00 charge per tire.
Electronic Waste Fees: any size TV - $10.00, computer monitor - $5.00, all other electronics and Samsung TV's - FREE! (Fees for TV's and computers are separate from hazardous waste fee.)
Curbside Special Collections
Thornton trash and recycle customers can use this service to: Get rid of clutter in the garage or basement, plan a do-it-yourself room remodel, clean up the yard or storage shed, get rid of recently replaced furniture or appliances, or for a rental property cleanup!
The cost is just $58 per collection for 6 cubic yards of stuff, that would fill two normal sized pickup truck loads. Restrictions and limitations apply. The cost of service is placed on the next utility bill for payment.
Got more junk? More than two full pickup loads = $97 or more.
What is eligible: Furniture, appliances, mattresses/box springs, hot water heaters, fence panels, branches, remodeling debris, evaporative coolers, etc.
What is NOT eligible: NO hazardous materials (i.e., flammable liquids, oil, paint, fertilizer, chemical cleaners, etc.). NO tires. NO concrete or masonry demolition (driveway concrete, wall blocks or gravel).
Where: Items must be placed in an orderly fashion (stacked/bundled) at the curb by 7 a.m. the day of the scheduled collection.
When: Special collections are scheduled on Mondays and Wednesdays, depending on your address.
