The Thornton Senior Center offers several types of fitness classes to meet your exercise needs at any level. We offer a variety of drop in classes, as well as classes that you sign up for monthly. We are also a proud member of the SilverSneakers fitness program. Call 303-255-7850 for more information or to register.
To enroll in our SilverSneakers program (and take advantage of lots of free classes), please stop by our front desk from 8 a.m to 5 p.m., Monday thru Friday to enroll. Please bring your health insurance card and your drivers license.

Types of Classes
Muscular Strength and Range of Movement (MSROM)
Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball are used for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.

SilverSneakers Cardio Circuit
Combine fun with fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work with handheld weights, elastic tubing with handles and a ball is alternated with nonimpact choreography. A chair is used for support, stretching, and relaxation exercises.

Seniorcize
Get your day started on the right foot in this low impact, geared towards senior fitness class. Learn a wide variety of techniques and exercises to get you in shape to stay healthy.

Drop-in Chair Fitness
This drop-in exercise class is designed for individuals who may have limited ability to exercise. Participants receive instruction while sitting in a chair to improve flexibility, strength, coordination and cardiovascular fitness.

Power Pack
Class focus is weights, strength training, and athletic movements using the resistance tools and balls. All fitness levels are welcome.

Yoga
Yoga not only restores vitality to the body, but also opens and expands the mind and soul. Join us for an hour of yoga stretches that can be modified for all levels and conditions.

Drop-in Yoga
Express the art of yoga through breathing to connect body and mind while reducing stress. A class designed for both those who need to remain in chairs while practicing as well as those who are comfortable getting onto the floor for a few poses (this is not a class that will engage in a full mat practice on the floor).

SilverSneakers Yoga Stretch
YogaStretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures to increase flexibility.
