TAKE A WALK!

With the “Discover Thornton” Community Walkers

January 28

Pecos Park

The January 28 Community Walk marks the start of the 3rd year of this program!  On Saturday, January 28, we will meet in Pecos Park, which is located on the southeast corner of 96th Avenue and Pecos Street (which is just north of Niver Creek Middle School).   To get there, take Thornton Parkway west of I-25 to Pecos Street, turn right/north on Pecos to 96th street, turn right/east on 96th Avenue and find a place to park along the street.   We will depart promptly at 9 a.m. to explore the Niver Trail.  This month’s walk will be an out-and-back route that will be 4 miles at the longest distance.  This trail is primarily paved and has some significant hills.  Please remember to dress in layers and wear comfortable shoes.  If you are interested in participating in the program but can’t come on January 28, please make sure we have your e-mail address and we will keep you apprised of the dates, locations and distances for upcoming walks.  Please send those inquiries to Discover@cityofthornton.net.   The February event will be held on Saturday, February 25.

This is a monthly fitness program designed to help you develop or maintain a consistent fitness program.  City of Thornton Recreation Staff will lead the walk each month.  These treks will be of varying distances and will explore the many different trails around the community.  Come alone or bring your spouse, your neighbors, your children and/or your dog.  This is an opportunity to pursue your fitness goals, meet some new people and enjoy the trails of Thornton.  These walks are free and open to anyone who can physically complete the distance.  These are “no frills” events, so bring what you will need (water bottle, pet pick-up bags, etc.)  for the duration of each month’s walk.

You have attended one of our previous community walks and provided your email address for the purpose of receiving these e-mail reminders.   If at any time you decide that you do not want to receive these e-mails any longer, please respond to this e-mail with “opt out” printed in the subject bar.
