Open Space & Project Management 

The Open Space and Project Management Division is responsible for the planning, design and inspection of parks and open space capital projects.  The Division also works with the Parks and Open Space Advisory Commission in implementing the City's Parks and Open Space Master Plan.

Additional meetings available for public participation include the Parks and Open Space Advisory Commission meetings listed below.  Audience participation is available at the beginning of each meeting which begins at 6:30 p.m. and is held in the multipurpose room at the Margaret W. Carpenter Recreation Center, 11151 Colorado Boulevard, Thornton, Colorado.

Margaret W. Carpenter Park and Open Space Improvements 

Project improvements at the City of Thornton Margaret W. Carpenter Park and Open Space located at 3498 E. 112th Ave.  are nearing completion.  The park is open to the public with the grand opening scheduled for May 18, 2013.  New amenities include a boathouse, indoor carousel, outdoor amphitheatre, skate park, tennis and basketball courts, playground, splash pad and more.
