Thornton's first disc golf course is now open; come and play! The course is 18-holes, par 3 for a course par of 54. It begins by the parking lot at Springvale Park (Ivy Street @ Holly Street) with the North Nine designed as a skills course, where beginning players can learn the game and good play habits and experienced players can practice their short game and hone their putting skills. The South Nine (through the pedestrian underpass at 136th Avenue), at Marshall Lake and Riverdale Parks, includes challenging topography and some longer holes, with several located in the natural landscape area. Designed by John Bird of Birdie Disc Golf, the course works around the existing park amenities and topography to minimize conflicts with park users.
A public meeting was held on December 5, 2011 to gather input and address questions or concerns from area residents. Please read Public Meeting Questions, Concerns, Information Shared.
