The Break a Leg! Theatre Company
Break a Leg!

Community Theatre

The 2012 Break a Leg! season started with an informational meeting on March 23 at the Thornton Arts & Culture Center (TACC), 9209 Dorothy Blvd.  Interested community members were able to join one of six teams: costumes, set, sound/lighting, graphics, marketing, or photography.  Each team is led by an experienced mentor who shares his or her skills and knowledge with less experienced volunteers.  Crew members must be a minimum of 18 years old unless a parent or guardian accompanies them to all rehearsals and volunteers on the same team.

We've picked a play! Done to Death by Fred Carmichael is a mystery-comedy revolving around once famous mystery authors who apply their varying writing styles to solving murders. They include a couple who write sophisticated murders, a young author of the James Bond school, a retired writer of the hard hitting method and an aging queen of the logical murder.  The show alternates between reality and imagination as the writers explore the classic ‘whodunit’.  Done to Death will run August 17-19, 2012, at TACC, 9209 Dorothy Blvd., with rehearsals generally taking place on Monday and Wednesday evenings beginning in May.  Tickets are $5 and can be ordered by emailing heather.cleveland@cityofthornton.net or calling 720-977-5882.  Done to Death is produced by special arrangement with SAMUEL FRENCH, INC.

During the 2011 season, a 70 person volunteer cast and crew put on a fabulous community theatre production of The Canterbury Tales or...Geoffrey Chaucer's Flying Circus, a modernized and hilarious Monty Python-style twist on "The Canterbury Tales" featuring characters such as Alex of Trebek and the Wrong Pilgrims! Throughout the summer, the 'Break a Leg! Theatre Company'  learned lines, built sets, made costumes, and produced a fabulous show!  We invite you to visit our facebook page to see pictures from throughout the process.

Break a Leg! is funded by SCFD, TASHCO, and the City of Thornton.
