Unless noted, the organizations that provide home repair assistance are not directly affiliated with the City of Thornton, however the organizations provide assistance to Thornton residents.

Home Repair Programs for Seniors

Minor Home Repair Programs

Low income senior or disabled homeowners may be eligible to have free minor home repairs including wheelchair ramps, ADA modifications, installation of grab bars or plumbing/electrical repairs.  Help for Homes is the City's year-round program.  Rebuilding Days occurs in the spring and fall.  Local volunteers donate their time to perform the repairs.  Call Neighborhood Services at 303-538-7287 to see which program fits your needs.  

 The Senior Solutions Program

The Senior Solutions Program at The Senior Hub offers a referral network of handyman services offered at reduced rates.  All handyman have been interviewed and screened and provide plumbing, electrical, painting, grab bar installation, yard work, etc.  Call 303-426-4408 for more details.

Home Modification Services for Seniors - a listing of resources that can help Seniors with home repairs and improvements.

Energy Efficiency Resources 

Weatherization Assistance - renters and homeowners may qualify for free weatherization services such as attic and wall insulation, carbon monoxide tests on gas appliances and furnace maintenance.  The program serves residents in Adams County even though it is coordinated through the Arapahoe County.  Call 303-636-1982 for an application.

Energy Efficiency Workshops -  attend or host a free workshop to learn low-cost energy-saving tips. Through these workshops residents will receive information on how to decrease energy expenses.  All are welcome to attend.  Call 303-294-2476 to register .

Rebates for Energy Efficiency Upgrades - The Governors Energy Office provides a rebates through to help homeowners make energy efficiency upgrades to their homes.  Rebates are reserved on-line on a first-come, first-served basis.  Call 1-800-462-0184 for more information. 

Xcel Energy Rebates and Assistance - from rebates on solar power systems or heating systems to energy audits, Xcel Energy offers a variety of assistance for residential homes homes and businesses.  For details, call Xcel Energy at 1-800-481-4700.
