Mack Goodman
Councilmember Mack Goodman

Councilmember, Ward 1

Mack was born and raised in Kansas. In 1960, upon graduation from high school he joined the U.S. Navy and got to see the world. From the Far East to Antarctica to the North Atlantic and Europe, Mack spent time with Navy the Seabees and aboard several ships. In 1966 he met and married his wife Sherry. They have three grown daughters. He moved with his family to Colorado in 1968 and started his electrical apprenticeship with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union 68.

After four years of on-the-job training and schooling Mack became a journeyman electrician. In 1973 Mack moved his family to Thornton, where he bought their first home. After being involved in politics for a number of years, Mack decided to seek public office himself. With the help of his wife and a few friends, he was elected to the Thornton City Council in 1981. Mack spent the next six years representing the citizens of Wards 2 and 3. In 2004, Mack retired from the electrical trade where he had worked on such projects as the Eisenhower Tunnel, Budweiser Brewery, Elitch Gardens, Intel Computer chip plants and Denver International Airport.

With their three children raised and the last one off to college, Mack and Sherry decided to move to the original part of Thornton and bought a home to remodel for their retirement. He and his family have lived here for the last eighteen years. After twenty five years of being away from city council, Mack was finally coaxed back to running for public office once again and in 2009 was elected to a four year term in Ward 1.
