Councilmember, Ward 3
Lynne has lived in the north metro area since she was a teen. Lynne is married and has a 22 year old son who is a college student in the Pacific Northwest. Lynne and her husband have been volunteers in the Adams 12 School District and with their son's Boy Scout troop. They currently volunteer with the Fetal Hope Foundation and the Thornton Relay for Life.
Because Lynne has had a lifelong interest in government and city planning she followed the Watergate hearings and impeachment proceedings in the early 70s, participated in Model UN and Speech & Debate in high school and college and has volunteered for political campaigns and in the Colorado House of Representatives. This passion led her to run for City Council.
In 1977, Lynne graduated from Northglenn High School. After graduation she attended CU Boulder, receiving a double degree in history and fine art history and in 1984 she continued her education at the University of Michigan, earning a Masters in Library Science. In the 1990s Lynne attended graduate school part time at the University of Northern Colorado and received a Masters in History in 1996.
For the last 25 years Lynne has focused on her profession and her family. In her work as a librarian, she has taught students, staff and faculty how to find the information that helps them become licensed health professionals, care for patients and research the scientific advances that improve all of our lives. Lynne's work experience in networking and referral is valuable as she works with citizens to discuss their concerns and connect them with their government. She has been honored for her work as a health sciences librarian, receiving the Marla Graber Award for Excellence in 2009 and the Bernice M. Hetzner Award for Excellence in Academic Health Science Librarianship in 2010. She has also served as president of her professional organization, and founded a 501c3 to provide graduate school scholarships to ensure that outstanding professionals continue to enter her profession.
Lynne is honored to have been selected by the voters of Ward 3 to represent them on Thornton's City Council. She believes that citizen participation is important for a free society and hopes that Ward 3 residents will seek her out and share their concerns.
