The Economic Development Incentive
Program (EDIP) is a grant program funded by the City of Thornton to encourage
small businesses in the Thornton Development Authority (TDA) area to upgrade
their buildings and sites. This is one of several City economic development
programs intended to retain existing businesses, encourage business expansion
and promote new business development.

Grant Program
Use of EDIP Funds
The funds are used to reduce the cost of improvements to your
building by providing direct assistance in the form of matching grants.
Purpose of Program
The purpose of the program is to enhance the appearance of Thornton's oldest and
largest commercial district. A more attractive shopping district will serve to
draw more customers to the area and improve the local economy and enhance the
value of your real estate investment.
Improvements Covered
Exterior building improvements such as building renovation,
door and window upgrades, roofing, etc. Site Improvements such as landscaping,
parking lot and sign improvements, etc.
Applying for Funds

Identify the proposed improvements to your business.

Submit an EDIP Grant Application to the City of Thornton (Business
Development Office) for review.

An EDIP Review Committee appointed by City Council determines if the
proposed improvements fall within the program guidelines and the level of
grant funding, if any.

Applicants may receive up to $15,000 of direct assistance in the form of a
matching grant.
