Testing and Screening
The Fire Department currently uses the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG) testing and screening process to hire new firefighters. Testing is done twice a year. You must submit an application and $50 testing fee to DRCOG. Those who successfully pass the written test are placed in an eligibility pool for one year from the date the list is certified. As vacancies occur, applicants are selected from the applicant pool. Further testing is then conducted by the City of Thornton.
For questions regarding the DRCOG testing process or for an application, please give them a call at 303-480-6730 or visit their website at www.drcog.org/fire.
