A Holiday ‘Treet’: Thornton’s Tree Decorating Contest
Take your decorating skills out of the living room and into Winter Fest
THORNTON, CO…The City of Thornton puts a unique twist on decking the halls this holiday season with our annual Community Tree Decorating contest. It’s a popular part of the annual Winter Fest celebration, scheduled for December 12-14, at the Multipurpose Fields (108th and Colorado Boulevard). Participants decorate a holiday tree that will be seen by the thousands of folks who attend Winter Fest. The decorated trees can take on an educational feel; like recycling, or a more personal feel; honoring volunteers or a charity.
Decorating takes place Thursday, December 11 and judging is the following day. Awards will be announced on Saturday, December 15, at 6:30 p.m. Awards will be announced on Saturday, December 13, 6:30 pm at the Outdoor Stage located on the west end of the field.
The cost to enter is $35 for individuals, schools or non-profit organizations, and $60 for businesses and there is a $5 discount if received by November 28. One 7’ noble fir tree will be provided and participants are free to keep the tree after the event ends.
