Thornton police wrap-up 2008 DUI Checkpoint Enforcement Program

Final checkpoint occurs September 12

THORNTON, CO…The Thornton Police Department ends its 2008 DUI Checkpoint enforcement program on September 12, from 9:30 p.m. to 3 a.m. This will be the last DUI checkpoint of the year and will be conducted on W. 88th Ave and on North Washington Street. “DUI checkpoints are conducted for the safety and well being of the people living in and traveling through Thornton,” says Thornton Police Sgt. Lee Vitgenos.

The checkpoint is made possible by LEAF Funds from The Colorado Department of Transportation. These funds allows the Thornton Police Department to conduct these types of operations with the goal of taking DUI drivers off the street before they cause an accident.
