Charles Stevenson's biography is coming soon. In the interim, we include his comments from his swearing in ceremony on Dec. 18, 2007...

"I've been a resident of the City of Thornton for a very long time. I can remember things that aren't here anymore. I remember the wonderful meat market at Miller's Supermarket that isn't here anymore. I remember the wonderful pickles at Steve's Meat Market on 84th. I remember the North Star Drive-In and actually going there. I worked at the Tenneco store in management as they were building the King Soopers across the street at 84th and Pecos. And finally, the first toy that was placed on the shelf at the new Target at 104th and Washington, I did that. So I've been around for awhile.

"I want you to know that I've just taken an oath, but I'll make a second promise because I've had the luxury of not making any campaign promises at all. I want to make a promise to fellow Councilmembers and to all the citizens of the City of Thornton and Ward 4 that I will be here. I will be available. I will work hard to meet the challenges of the City. I promise to meet adversity head on. I'm a direct communicator. If I have a problem I will come see you directly -- and that applies as well to Councilmembers and staff. I promise to represent the City internally and externally to the best of my ability.

"I bring some good skills to the Council. I intend to use them. Any you find that I have, they're open and available to you.

"I'm ready to go to work."
