Steve Lebsock was first elected Councilmember for Ward 2 (which became Ward 1 effectively May 1, 2007) in 2003. In 2007, Steve was re-elected to City Council and appointed Mayor Pro-Tem. Steve is a fourth-generation Coloradoan who was born in Sterling Colorado but has lived in Adams County most of his adult life. A graduate of Westminster High School, he served in the United States Marine Corps, stationed at Camp Lejune, North Carolina and Iwa Kuni, Japan. Steve earned a B.A. in Sociology from Metropolitan State College of Denver.

In addition to his duties on City Council, Steve and his wife operate an internet business.

Steve's son and Nina's two daughters, as well as Steve's brother and sister, all live in the metro area. In his spare time Steve enjoys spending time with his family, riding his motorcycle and exercising on Niver Creek Trail.

Steve says his tenure with the Agency for a Clean Thornton and his volunteer work at the Thornton Senior Center inspired him to take a more active role in the city. In the future, Steve envisions Thornton as a "community where its citizen's can enjoy a high quality of life. A community where the residents trust their elected officials and are confident that their civil liberties and civil rights are protected. A community where people can find a quality job/career and enjoy working for an employer that pays a living wage." Steve went on to say that he plans on ensuring "every neighborhood in Thornton is safe and clean". " I am honored to represent the people in my ward. I believe elected leaders should be an extension of the will of the people".
