Councilmember, Ward 2

Return

Ward 2 Councilmember Eva Henry

Eva Henry has lived within the Thornton community for over 35 years. She was raised and attended school here. Throughout this time, she learned the value of hard work and giving back to her community. Many of these years were difficult, as Eva struggled as a single mother raising two children, Maurice and Danielle, on her own. Eva recognized the value of her community and the help she received from her neighbors and her children's educators. She always taught her children to give back to the community and never take from it, as this is the foundation to strong communal ties. Eva has spent several years in community service, actively engaging in health care reform and volunteering in the schools. She has a great passion for Thornton and now chooses to serve her community in City Council.

Eva's children have also followed in her foot steps, working toward building a stronger community. Eva's son, Maurice, chose to serve his country when he turned eighteen. Maurice has a strong commitment and is now in his tenth year. Maurice has also been featured in "Go Army" ads throughout the country.

Danielle graduated from Western State College in Gunnison, Colorado where she received a Political Science Degree. She now works fighting for workers rights concerning health care and family supporting wages. She has also done some traveling, actively supporting the working class citizens.

Eva believes in community involvement and has engaged in numerous projects. She has been involved in several groups that work on subjects important to working families. These projects concerned issues such as health care reform, education, and veteran's issues. Eva has also worked over twenty years in financing, notably working with families with consumer loans.

Eva's passion is her community and that community is the City of Thornton. She taught her children to give back to society. Her son serves in the military and her daughter fights for workers rights. She wants to expand that sense of commitment to the rest of the city. Now it's Eva's turn to serve her community.
